The Tillamook County Building Division is responsible for issuing structural, plumbing, mechanical and electrical permits. This also includes reviewing plans and conducting inspections for the work allowed under these permits. 

Beginning January 1st, 2023

We will start collecting school excise tax payments at time of permit submittal in addition to building fees. School excise tax payments must be in the form of check and made payable to the applicable school district. 

Tillamook School District is $1.45 per square foot for new or replacement residential structures. Includes mobile homes and all structures attached to a residence. Construction excise tax of $0.72 per square foot for new or replacement nonresidential structures or addition.

Nestucca Valley School District is $1.23 per square foot for new or replacement residential structures. Includes mobile homes and all structures attached to a residence. Construction excise tax of $0.61 per square foot for new or replacement nonresidential structures or addition.

Neah-Kah-Nie School District is $1.00 per square foot for new or replacement residential structures. Includes mobile homes and all structures attached to a residence. Construction excise tax of $0.50 per square foot for new or replacement nonresidential structures or addition.

 

PERMITS & PROPERTY LOCATION: 

A copy of an approved zoning permit is required at the time of building permit submittal for development on properties located within the city limits or urban growth boundary (UGB) of Tillamook, Bay City, Garibaldi, Rockaway, and Wheeler, within the city limits of Nehalem, and for development on properties located within the Manzanita UGB.  If you are unsure of the zoning jurisdiction for your property, please reach out to Community Development or contact your city administrator for additional information.

Issued Permits 

Once we have contacted you that your permit has been issued, the permit packet must be picked up within 5 business days or it will be mailed. You have 180 days to have your first approved inspection to avoid the permit expiring, every approved inspection extends the permit another 180 days. If your permit is close to expiring, you will need to request an extension request in writing with justifiable reason, please send request to the Building Division permit technicians, the request will be pending approval or denial from the Building Official.
