Tillamook County Sheriff - Former Sheriff's - 1854 to Current

Sheriff James Quick

Served from: 1859-1860

He came back to Tillamook in 1859 to serve for about a year, when he resigned. The village of Idaville, which was platted in 1870, was named after his daughter, Ida. Quick was also a farmer. he owned a saloon and became a boat builder after leaving the Sheriff's Office. He is credited with building a toll road over the mountains along Trask river and he owned a hotel in Tillamook known as the "Quick House."
