Dr. John Zimmerman, Family Practice – TCHD Medical Director

My life as a physician has been endlessly varied and seems to be constantly
changing and evolving. As a Board Certified Family Physician, my interests and
focus have always been directed toward the care of people of all ages and all
backgrounds. Some of my most rewarding years were spent with underserved
populations in Community Health Centers and a Migrant Workers Clinic in
Brewster, Washington. Private practice was a brief detour that was educational,
especially since it helped me understand that I am more at home in the setting
of a community oriented clinic.
Having said all that, my heart's desire is to partner with patients in an open,
forthright, and honest way in order to help create realistic plans for improving
their lives, helping them to deal with the inevitable challenges that our
humanity imposes upon us all.
My life away from the Clinic is as, if not more, important to me. My wife and I
(and our Wonder Dog, Bosko) are bedazzled by the beauty of God's Creation,
especially here on the water in Tillamook, and never tire of participating in
the flow of outdoor life.
Dr. Paul Betlinski, Family Practice – TCHD Health Officer

I am the doctor that has never
liked white coats. They are too stiff and formal and it is a patient that first
gave me the idea of a fishing or travel vest to wear at the clinic. It was my
idea to install a pet on my left shoulder as a way to try and relax the
children, little realizing that it would be the adults who notice it most if he
is missing. It is also the adults who appreciate the inside joke of his name,
“Chip.”
I have and continue to
practice a wide range of family medicine in an outpatient setting. I do not
currently follow patients in the hospital, but take advantage of the current
hospitalist program, who send the patients and records back to us after
discharge.
I am fascinated by the
interactions with and shared patients from Tillamook Family Counseling Center.
And I really do appreciate
just having some quiet time at home. Really!
My wife and I continue to be
involved in Youth Ministries through the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and look
forward to returning to Africa again. We enjoy interacting with our children
and, especially, grandchildren.
Dr. Mark Smith, Pediatric Consultant

After a 30 year academic career in pediatrics at the University of Washington in Seattle, I have settled in at the ocean. Now I would like to use my skills to help those in our county who have no access to pediatric care. I have worked for years with Latino populations and speak intermediate Spanish - mas o menos. I enjoy being a grandfather of two girls, creative writing, gardening, and playing acoustic guitar. But my favorite activity is walking on the beach each morning with my wife Holly and my big dog Pablo.
Karen Parr, Family Nurse Practitioner

I am a nationally
board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. I graduated from Washington State
University with my Master’s in Nursing in 2008. My special interests are
Pediatrics and Women’s Health as well as a love for procedures. My background
includes practice in Renal, Diabetic, Urology and Surgery patient populations. I
have found Tillamook to be a community that is welcoming and friendly and have
enjoyed providing for the health care needs of the community.
My husband and I live on a
5-acre farm outside of Forest Grove. We enjoy spending time on our farm, which
seems more like a zoo at times. We currently have 7 cows, 5 ducks, 7 cats (at
the last count), and 3 dogs. In the future we hope to have more cows as we start
to raise miniature Herefords for beef. My husband and I also enjoy “haying”
season. During the summer we can usually be found at our close family friend’s,
pulling in all the hay and straw.
Donna Jose, Adult Nurse Practitioner

I am an Adult Nurse Practitioner who has been in practice
since 1993, working mainly in Internal Medicine and Hospice. With a strong
belief in the holistic approach to patient care, my work experience has been the
primary care of adults and adolescents. I enjoy the challenge of providing
health care that reflects the unique life experiences of each person, and try to
foster relationships that are built on mutual respect, honesty, and trust. I
have a particular interest in women's health, psychosocial health, and in
end-of-life care.
My husband and I live in South County. We have three grown children, two
adolescent Labrador retrievers, and lots of music in our home.
Sandy Kosik, Physician Assistant

My husband and I moved here 7 years ago for a "coast adventure" and fell in love with the community and the scenery and wanted this to be our permanent home. Practicing medicine is my second career as I spent 16 years in education where I met my husband, Jay. We have 5 children and 4 grandchildren and a dog, Duke. I have always practiced in a rural setting with a passion for Women's Health. I love to garden and find it my respite from the little stress I do have. We enjoy the outdoors, traveling, and being a part of the community.
Marty Caudle, Physician Assistant

My training is in physical therapy and as a physician assistant. I have
practiced in many different settings, from psychiatry to neurosurgery. I am
passionate about preventive medicine with a focus on utilizing nutrition and
exercise for physical and mental well-being.
I am grateful to be able to practice and live on the beautiful North Coast. I
enjoy hiking and walking on the beach with my wife, Laura.

Frank Hrabetin, Family Nurse Practitioner

I've been practicing as a Family Nurse
Practitioner for over 10 years working with underserved populations. This
includes families and individuals who make little or no money and don't have the
resources or access to see someone if they get sick or want to stay healthy. I
started working with Native American tribes in Washington and Florida and most
recently have worked with low-income populations in Bend and Eugene, Oregon. I
also draw from my experience as an RN with over 30 year’s experience, working in
various hospital units and rural Public Health.
For fun, in no particular order: river fishing for trout, steelhead, and salmon
if it happens to come on by; BBQ, not grilling; hiking and bike riding fill in
the rest of my time when I’m not at work.
