Solid Waste Advisory Committee

General Information

Meetings of the SWAC are open to the public.

The SWAC is appointed by the Board of Commissioners. The role of the SWAC includes the following duties:

Make an annual report to the Board (of Commissioners) containing recommendations on development and implementation of a solid waste management plan and any regulations or amendments to this ordinance.
In consultation with responsible public officials and with persons providing service:
- Develop and periodically review a solid waste management plan including regional disposal sites and necessary disposal systems for review, adoption or modification by the Board.
- Develop and recommend to the appropriate agency or the Board minimum standards for location and operation of disposal sites including, but not limited to, protection of adjacent or nearby residents.
Perform such other duties as directed by the Board or as the Committee may find necessary to effectively carry out the purposes of the Solid Waste Ordinance.
