Radio Communications

Tillamook County Logo

Tillamook County, in collaboration with the Tillamook County Emergency Communications District (TCECD), operates a series of disparate very high frequency (VHF) radio systems that provide voice communication and dispatch services for law enforcement, fire, and ambulance services throughout the County.  Calls for emergency services response are answered at TCECD in Tillamook, the sole public-safety answering point (PSAP) in the county, and all public safety responses originate from this location.

The system is a mix of the county-owned VHF radio equipment and TCECD-owned microwave links, with associated networking gear and network transport over county-owned fiber connectivity to the internet and TCECD-owned microwave. These systems and their proper operation are wholly dependent on each other. Additionally, the current system has been pieced together over many years and was not designed or built as a countywide or regional system supporting multiple agencies. Rather, it only satisfies the most basic requirements of public safety dispatch.

The current system, as of 2022, serves only the most basic requirements of Dispatching Public Safety Agencies to the public in need.  To that end, we have continued to develop a comprehensive plan for an updated County wide Public Safety Communications System which can be viewed by following the link directly below.
